2026 ( ) -Aire que yo respiro. Museo Patio Herreriano. Valladolid
( )-Aire que yo respiro is Nuria Fuster’s first institutional solo exhibition. Presented at the Museo Patio Herreriano in Valladolid from March to September 2026, the exhibition occupies the Chapel, Gallery 9, and part of the cloister, bringing together a body of sculptures and installations that explore air as matter, and a shared condition.

Aireadoras is a kinetic installation composed of eight sculptures, each consisting of a tripod and a rod supporting a plastic bag. The eight devices are connected to a central electronic control box that coordinates their movements, generating a collective choreography in which the bags rotate, catch the air, inflate, and then collapse again.
Aireadoras operates as a precarious material assemblage in which plastic, air, mechanics and code enter into a continuous negotiation of agency. The plastic bags function less as containers than as sensitive membranes: surfaces through which an otherwise invisible force becomes temporarily legible.
Their inflation and collapse suspend the distinction between object and event, matter and movement, mechanism and organism. In dialogue with Jane Bennett’s concept of “vibrant matter,” the work proposes a distributed model of agency in which no single element fully determines the form that emerges.
The electronic system establishes a score, but the choreography remains materially contingent, shaped by air resistance, gravity, friction and the unpredictable behaviour of the plastic itself.
What unfolds is therefore not a representation of life, but a temporary ecology of forces in which sculpture becomes an event of continuous negotiation.

Aire que yo respiro places air at the centre of sculptural practice: not as the void between things, but as matter, infrastructure, and a condition of possibility. A matter without a form of its own, visible only when it occupies, presses against, displaces, or leaves a body.
Inside the Chapel of the Museo Patio Herreriano, a seven-metre-high structure inflates and collapses according to an algorithmic choreography. The sculpture gains volume only to lose it again; it emerges, collapses, and reconstitutes itself. It does not represent an organism: it rehearses the condition of being alive. Its mechanical breathing introduces a different temporality into the architecture—cyclical and autonomous—making instability its form of permanence.
Here, breathing is not merely a biological function. It is also a political and relational act. Air disregards the separation between inside and outside, passing through bodies and binding them within the same atmospheric field. Every breath contains something of the others. Atmosphere thus emerges as a shared space: invisible yet material, intimate and collective at once.
The sculpture becomes a respiratory infrastructure, an organless body whose existence depends on the circulation of that which cannot be fully contained. Between organism and machine, presence and disappearance, control and escape, The Air I Breathe asks what it means to inhabit together a matter that can never fully belong to us.
Nuria Fuster’s first institutional solo exhibition, the project unfolds across the Chapel—the Museo Patio Herreriano’s most symbolic space—the Gallery 9, and part of the cloister, extending this investigation into body, matter, and atmosphere into the architecture of the museum itself.
**************
Air, boneless brother,
why do you speak to me through my mouth?
I breathe,
and I do not know what part of me enters,
what part remains outside.
There is a hum—I hear it—
as if the world were thinking in secret
with electric teeth.
Nameless fields cross me,
split me into two halves of air:
the one that lives
and the one that rehearses living.
I speak without a tongue.
Again.
And the air answers with its soft refusal.
To breathe is to work,
to recharge this body full of hollow spaces,
to fill them with no one.
And I,
what do I do with so much accumulated invisible?
I sculpt it,
but it comes undone
like bread in a storm.
Air ( )
I feel you in the pause and in time,
in this interval
between one breath and another.
Breathing together
makes us exist at the same time,
mixes us into a single fatigue.
And in between
There is something electric
thinking without sound.
I relearn how to breathe.
I concave the chest,
this doing without knowing,
and it disappears.
