Spielplatz/Playground/Parque, 2014. Steel and bicycle tyres, variable measures.

Using a sequence of bicycle inner tubes, the artist organises a complex structure with simple elements. The installation is configured as a result of the action of throwing inflated tyre inner tubes in order to centre one of the two brackets hanging on the wall. What remains and is visible in the space that the spectator now traverses is the result of this action. The game of hit or miss leaves in the exhibition space a balance of hits and misses; we see the remains of a simple action but with multiple symbolic references. Trying to get it right is something common that concerns us daily and the results of these attempts, more or less successful, are a direct consequence of a gesture loaded with intentions.

Fuster articulates in the exhibition space an unstable equilibrium, witness to a tension as serious and grave, though apparently carefree, as only a game can be. It is an installation that proposes an analogy between the parts of the body and the construction of a social body, turning the spectator into a unit of measurement for successive transformations.

Nietzsche wrote: «thought is one thing, action is another, the image of action another. The wheel of causality does not turn between them». For the artist it is important the attitude of the one who launches and orchestrates a game where the playfulness makes the drama of having to take responsibility for the act more digestible. ‘Spielplatz/Playground/Parque’ proposes an ethical and social compendium of what it can mean to fall, to sustain, to lose or to win and how the vestiges of these daily actions continually evaluate and hierarchise us. Results that even stigmatise us. However, Fuster's installation opens an epistemological crack in this silent process, we ask ourselves, what does success consist of? We tend to use the term error as analogous or equivalent to mistake, however in the scientific field this is associated with the sense of uncertainty in the evaluation of the result itself. This installation presents the whole as a viable and feasible possibility of a complex reality that precisely calls into question the rightness as such and its meaning.
